The Athletic Championship of the Chişinău city

The Athletic Championship of the Chişinău city between Juniors and Seniors, gathered 295 sportsmen to fight for the first titles of the year. The contests in running, jumping and hammer throwing lasted for two days, and each has chosen its own champion.

The queen of sports has its favorite contest as well. Running preserves the well known leaders. The fastest athletes from Chisinau were found out in the 60 m running contest. Olga Rusacova, with the result of 7.87 s was the best among women, while Ion Mircos, needed just 6,87 s to pass the same distance in the men's final. Ana Berghi won two gold medals at 60 m hurdles running and at 800 m. Also two medals has won Coroi Alexandru, on the distances of 200 and 400 m.

One of the most interesting distances was 2000 m hurdles running among women. With two representatives at the starting point, Ludmila Frunze, a pupil of 13 years old, finished the race all alone in 7 min. 20s. Her opponent gave up in just a minute. And no wonder! The coldness in the gym, which became unbearable on Sunday, cuts all the pleasure from practicing sports. Ludmila, seems to be much more optimistic in this regards.

The longest distance of the contest, the one for 5 kilometers, was won by Ana Dercaci (27.31.20) and
Alexandru Vişnevschi (23.46.40)

The long and triple jumping were both won by Natalia Cipilenco, who has easily overcame her opponents, while the men's contest was won by Alexandru Cuharenco.

The surprise of the day belongs to the European champion in hammer throwing, Zalina Marghiev, whose result of 70, 70 m was with 10 cm better than the one managed by the winner of the men's contest, Ion Ursu. Zalina is very satisfied with this outcome and hopes to get new performances this year on the international arena.

Unfortunately, the disk and spear throwing contests were suspended. The weather conditions did not allow their proper occurrence. The athletes have left the gym slightly disappointed today. They hope that, in just two 2 weeks, at the Republican championship, their presence will not be avoided. But there are not really good news for them!

Although with modest prizes, the athletics federation, took care this year not only about the champions but about the next positioned as well.

The competition was a training for the National Athletic Championship, which will be held over two weeks, but also for the international competitions in Greece and the World Championship in Qatar. The President of the Athletic Federation of Moldova, Anatol Balan, has revealed some of the names of the future National roster for the above mentioned tournaments.

The famous Moldavian coach, Mihail Cravţov, celebrates today a beautiful age of 60 years. With this holiday he was warmly congratulated by his disciples, who managed for several times to step up on the highest rank of the podium: Silvia Florea, at 1500 m, Artîvc Natalia and Ion Emilianov at weight throwing, Cojuhari Olesea at 200 m, and the list can continue. Being at the age of accomplishments, the great coach hopes to achieve new successes with his disciples.
