The poor performance of the Moldavian athletes at the World championship in Berlin

The Moldavian athletes had an unexpectedly poor performance at the World Championship organized in Berlin. None of the sporstmen was able to reach at least the final.

The best among our sportsmen was Olga Cristea, who registered the result of 2.03.99 on the 800 meters distance. She was the 18th among the 43 participants, while Oxana Juravel registered a new record for our country on the 3000 meters distance with obstacles. The time registered by the athlete was 9.36.63. Juravel managed the 22nd position among 40 participants.

Also in this contest, but in the Men's competition, Ion Luchianov, the champion of the Universiade was just the 20th from 39 competitors. His result is 8.27.41.

At the triple jump, Vladimir Letnicov registered the result of 15,88 meters and was the 40th. Only 6 sportsmen jumped weaker than Letnicov.

At the hammer throwing, the result registered by Zalina Marghiev was 66,70 meters and she managed the 26th position from 40 possible. Her sister, Marina Marghiev, finished the competition with a result of 64,83 meters. Her final position was 33.
