The 33 years old Moldavian athlete, Iaroslav Muşinschi won the silver medal at the 14th consecutive marathon competitions held in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana. At the finish line Muşinschi gave up only 3 seconds in front of the Kenyan long-distance runner William Byam.
The distance of 42 kilometers 195 meters Iaroslav crossed in 2 hours 10 minutes 15 seconds, which was the 4th result of the season in Europe and the new national record for Moldova.
The previous record (2:11.43) set last year in Istanbul, also belonged to Muşinschi. But this time, Iaroslav managed to improve his achievements by almost half a minute!
In Ljubljana the Moldavian runner was the single European present in top ten, where were seen 7 Kenyans atheletes and 2 representatives of Ethiopia.
Iaroslav Muşinschi is the winner of numerous National and International competitions. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing Muşinschi with the result of 2:21:18 took 41st place. At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, he showed the 30th result.
