Viorel Bologan and Viorel Iordachescu started up with victories at the European Chess Championship

Between the 6th and 19th of March, the Budva Citz (Montenegro) is hosting the 10th edition of the Ments Chess european Championship. The Competition gathered at the starting point more than 300 sportsmen. Moldova is represented by Viorel Bologan (coeficent ELO 2687), Dumitru Svetuschin (2593), Viorel Iordachescu (2584) and Sergiu Vedmediuc (2414). With the first chance for the trophy winning re counted the spanish player Francisco Valleilo (2702) and Vladimir Akopean from Armenia (2700).

In the first round, the Moldavian chess players registered 2 victories, a draw and a defeat. The current  Moldavian Champion Sergiu Vedmediuc was defeated by the Ukrainian Serghei Fedorciuk.

Dumitru Svetuschin drew with Predrag Masic.

Viorel Bologan was better than the Romanian Iulian Sofroni, while Viorel Iordachesc was victorious in the game against Zdenko Plenkovic.
