We present you the newcomers who have joined Olimpia this summer:
Sergiu Pascenco
Position - goalkeeper
Date of birth - 18/12/1982
Nationality - Moldova
Sergiu had spent the last six months with Russian First Division club Gazovik Orenburg. Both sides decided to cancel their loan contract and the Moldovan keeper went back to the northern capital. Sergiu Pascenco signed a new contract with Olimpia that will expire on June 30, 2012.
Andrei Colibaba
Position - goalkeeper
Date of birth - 24/01/1994
Nationality - Moldova
This is a product of the local football school. It is obvious that the young goalkeeper cannot quite compete with Pascenco and Groza for the starting spot on the team but has a good chance to get playing time with the second team. Practice along more experienced players will help Andrei to improve his skills.
Sergiu Climov
Position - defender
Date of birth - 20/05/1992
Nationality - Moldova
He is a product of the FC Sheriff football academy. The tall defender can play at right back and centre-back. Right now the competition in defense is tougher than ever but Sergiu is very eager to make progress.
Nicolae Orlovschi
Position - defender
Date of birth - 01/04/1985
Nationality - Moldova
His conflict with Kaysar came to attention of the Kazakhstan Football Association. Having fought abroad and proved that he was right, Nicolae cancelled the loan agreement with the Kazakh side and got back to his home club.
Nicolae Mincev
Position - defender
Date of birth - 20/10/1972
Nationality - Moldova
Nicolae Bunea assigns this player the role of a 'sweeper' harrying and tackling the opposition teams' attackers and defenders. He is supposed to share his experience with the yooung team.
Alexandru Grab
Position - midfielder
Date of birth - 13/12/1977
Nationality - Moldova
And yet another experienced midfielder. Alexandru had played for Locomotiva Bălți lately. This club should have been promoted to the Moldovan top division this season, but remained in Division A while Grab joined the club that he spent the best time of his career with.
Vadim Clipca
Position - midfielder
Date of birth - 15/05/1993
Nationality - Moldova
It was not long ago when Vadim played in the Junior Championship. And now, he is playing for the first team. Clipca did not lose his confidence in the game against Zimbru and almost opened his National Division scoring account but his shot was denied by Calancea.
Adjibula Babatunde
Position - attacking midfielder
Date of birth - 27/11/1991
Nationality - Nigeria
It is another player from the Africa continent. It is hard to tell anything about him yet but it is clear that he wants to play for Olimpia and help the team very much.
Mihail Golban
Position - forward
Date of birth - 18/06/1993
Nationality - Moldova
It is a young player who is being honed by Olimpia to raise his level to meet the requirements of the National Division.
Okada Shotaro
Position - winger
Date of birth - 14/09/1988
Nationality - Japan
And here is the most sensational news of the summer transfer window - Olimpia is the first club in the republic to sign a professional contract with a Japanese footballer.
Back home, the new Olimpian played in the Asian university league that is not any worse than the National Division.
Most probably, it will not be the last Asian newcomer because Olimpia vice-president Sergiu Chiseliov FC thinks that the Japanese market is very promising and the scouts of the club are keeping an eye on the land of the rising sun.
