Mariana Eşanu has won a gold medal at the European Women's Wrestling Championship in the freestyle contest.
The Moldavia athlete won a gold medal in the weight category 59 kg. In the first round Eşanu easily defeated Leila Ertash from Turkey. In the quarterfinal defeated the Ukrainian Irina Husyak, and in the semi-final was better than Alena Karol. In the decisive fight, Mariana Eşanu won Fabien Vittenviler from Switzerland.
Prior to that, Anatol Buruian has won the gold of the same European Championship in the Men's contest.
