Moldovan sambo fighters win 4 medals

The Moldova national sambo team won four medals at the European Championship held in Minsk. Out of 12 Moldovan sambo fighters, four of them - Octavian Nicu , Mariana Davidov, Valeriu Tighineanu and Dumitru Lungu - claimed spots on the podium.

Despite the medals earned, not all athletes receive financial assistance from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Bronze medal winner Valeriu Tighineanu has to use his family's resources to compete and faces some difficulties with training for international tournaments.

Though Tighineanu is the combat sambo champion, the government is not too eager to help him.

The young athlete is currently training for the World Championship which will be held in Latvia, hoping that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will support him.

The rest of the national team coached by Iulian Piatcovschi is also training for the worlds which will be held in October but it remains unknwon who will sponsor the trip to the competitions.
