Wrestlers fight for Moldova Cup

Spectacular throws, holds, leg locks and chokes - the Moldova Freestyle Wrestling Cup was filled with all of this.

"This event is very important for top wrestlers because they must always be in an excellent shape. We managed to improve the level of athletes thanks to joint training sessions with Romania national team that participated in our tournament. Both teams - Moldova and Romania - benefited from that".

Our favourites proved that they deserve a spot on the national team in most weight categories. For instance, the World Student Championship winner who placed fifth at the World Senior Championship, Petru Ianulov,  easily seized the top spot in the 84 kg weight category. The toughest struggle was in the 74 kg weight category. Defending champion Anisim Tălămbăţ won all fights except for the final one. He lost the final match to Alexandru Burcă who recovered from an injury a while ago.

The Moldova Cup winners will take part in the World Championship which will be held in Istanbul in September.
