Six nations competed in Călăraşi Cup

Organizers of the international wrestling tournament Călăraşi Cup welcomed the visitors with bread, salt and a traditional Moldovan dance. wrestling  The 29th tournament brought together athletes from France, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.

This year's tournament brough the most mumber of participants - 182 competitors in three age categories. Moldova's merited coach Constantin Cobîleanu brought most of the wrestlers.

The final with London Olympics candidate Mariana Eşanu participating turned out to be the shortest one. She needed just 15 seconds to take first place in her category.

Mariana Eşanu, champion:

"I came back from a training camp in Reşiţa where I trained with the Romania team. It was a very good experience. I managed to correct the mistakes I made at the European Senior Championship.

Constantin Cobîleanu, RM merited coach:

"The World Senior Wrestling Championship will be held in Istanbul in late August or early September. The athletes that will manage to make it to the top six in their categories will secure a berth to the London Olympics. Two wrestlers from the Călăraşi sports school, Mariana Eşanu and Alexandru Burcă, will fight for Olympic quota places."

The Călăraşi sports school place first in the overall rankings based on the results of the tournament.  France, Ukraine and Belarus also took the first spots on the podium.
