Moldovan athlete Igor Soroca almost reached the final of the World Championship held in Paris.
The Moldovan athlete beat Hyon Kuk Hong of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Al-kabzari Walled of Yemen and Junpei Morishita of Japan in the first three fights, reaching the semifinals. The Soroca-based athlete faced Colin Wates of England in the semifinal and lost.
It is noteworthy that Wates was defeated by Leandro Cunha of Brazil later on.
The other Modlovan athletes were eliminated earlier.
Vladimir Oleinic lost the opening fight to Asa Weithers of Barbados.
Octavian Nacu won the first match against Ahmet Babaniyazov of Turmenistan but then was eliminated from the competitions by Najvot Chana of Indonesia.
Overall. The Championship brought together 949 athletes out of 136 countries.
