Wrestling in Moldova has a bright future and a large group of talented youngsters, according to the Wrestling Federation. Clear proof of that was given at the European Junior Championship where three Moldovan wrestlers won medals. Mariana Eşanu won a gold medal, Gherogeh Costin - a silver medal and Ecaterina Ţurcan - a bronze medal.
Victor Peicov, Moldova Wrestling Federation president:
"Three medals in an Olympic event means that the Federation, coaches and athletes have done a good job".
The Federation's most hopes are pinned on Mariana Eşanu. According to Federation president Victor Peicov, the young athlete might qualify for the Olympics 2012.

"Mariana Eşanu has a great chance to make it to the London Olympics or even to the Olympic Games in Rio deJaneiro, if the training conditions get better".
Mariana Eşanu and other Moldovan wrestlers will have an opportunity to earn Britain Olympic qualification places at the upcoming World championship in Turkey. The berth to London will be given to the top four athletes in all weight categories.
