Moldovan judo fighter Sergiu Toma won a bronze medal at the World Championship held in Paris.
The Moldovan athlete had seven fights in the 81 kg weight category, winning six of them and losing two.
Toma beat fighters from Kenia, the US, Uzbekistan and Russia but lost the 5th match to Brazil's Leandro Guilheiro.
The Moldovan fighter won the following fight against Ukraine's Sergei Vasilenko and beat France's Loic Pietri.
The support of his fans was not enough enough for the Frenchman to win the match.
This is the first medal for the Moldovan team.
Overall, the tournament in Paris brought together 949 coutnries from 136 countries. From 50 to 80 judo fighters compete in every weight category.
